Existentialism is a philosophical and movement that confronts the nature of human existence, questioning the meaning and purpose of life. Existentialist movies often tackle themes of individualism, freedom, identity, and the search for meaning in an often chaotic and absurd world.

Some mainstream movies have tackled these questions including The Truman Show, American Beauty, Taxi Driver, Interstellar and other great movies. In this article, I offer a selection of my favorite, lesser-known, existentialist movies that embody the spirit of existentialism. And I invite you to ponder profound questions about your own existence and the nature of reality.
