This it very sectarian. How is voting for a woman who only strives to protect the status quo, which means the patriarchy, beneficial for women. It may be beneficial for a minority of wealthy women, but for the majority of women, voting for a candidate who is committed to their interests is surely a step forward in challenging the patriarchal system. Feminism and class is intertwined. According to the author’s arguement, voting for Condalessa Rice as President would be an advancement for women. To make advancements in the status of ALL women, the material problems of society, such as higher wages, higher education, free health and child care, must be a priority.
