Introducing The Butterfly Haven Project

After holding this vision for 22 years I finally found the courage to share it with the world. Since it’s birth a few months ago, it’s growing beautifully.

Introducing The Butterfly Haven Project
To share our vision, come on a journey with us and bring your loved ones, it might be one of you one day;
Imagine feeling so low, so exhausted, empty and isolated as you reel from one of life’s traumas — the death of a loved one, the recovery from a serious illness, a victim of a vicious crime, whatever it may be. You know you are not the same person you once were, your mind and body feel separate from each other vying for your attention, rambling thoughts and feelings create a ripple of peace less ness creating anxiety, stress and the start of depression. Mental illness has arrived and you simply do not know what to do, where to go. You are alone. There is no one going through quite what you are experiencing in the world right now.
You are scared but dare not openly admit it so you use coping strategies to get through each day. You notice you swear more, your body aches with a constant sickness and your head throbs to remind you, you’re going mad.
You know you need help, you are now ready to accept it but again who can you trust, where can you go?
We are here. The Butterfly Haven Project is a place for individuals to settle and stay when life gets tough and supports people through life’s traumas.
We hear you, we listen and we reassure you and to respond to your needs by creating a unique therapy and advice programme which will set you on the road to recovery.
We have Butterfly Haven hubs holding clinics to reach you in the first instance. It is totally confidential so you need not worry.
Our ultimate vision is to have clinics and Butterfly Haven Homes in every city. We need homes and properties that we can transform into Butterfly Havens and clinics, donations and fund raisers so we can build and sustain these new communities and volunteer experts in all of life’s fields.
A moment can last a lifetime if mental illness is ignored and left untreated.
Help us create a Butterfly Haven hub in your community.

I can hear you asking “why are you so passionate about this cause?” well quite simply I was in that cold dark place twenty two years ago when reeling from a really horrendous knife attack which left me with PTSD and a severely traumatised two year old son who witnessed it all.

When we were ready to live on our own after losing our home, my job and peace of mind, we were offered a pigeon infested flat in an area in the West Midlands that added to my trauma as I simply didn’t feel safe there.

I was told by the council official to “lower my standards”. Is this what I was reduced to? Is this all I was worth? were the questions that raced through my shattered mind.

Thankfully my spirit within me reared its head and I said “No! I’m not settling for this” and found our new home without their help.

Now years on, I’m happily married with my two boys living their life without the need for me to be around as much so I knew it was time to birth the long held vision.
