The writer makes some very valid points, but I disagree with his main argument that the vulgarity and dysfunction in the White House is entirely due to “ the glaring double-standard and privilege automatically bestowed upon white men.” The behavior we are seeing now in the White House would not have been tolerated from white men in public office when I was a child 60 years ago. Yes, there is a double-standard and privilege for white men, but something has changed in our culture in the past 20 years to permit the lowering of the bar to this extent. NOBODY talked to the press 20 or 30 or 40 years ago the way Scaramucci does today.
