Great article. I think it’s important to understand the history behind some of the same prejudices we deal with today, and this article serves to remind others that these issues don’t just go away. Just because it’s been years since this happened doesn’t mean that systemic racism doesn’t still exist. Just because you, as a white person, do not see or feel it daily doesn’t mean it didn’t happen and its effects can be still felt years later. These issues don’t go away over a generation or two, rather they are passed down through families and felt still. I’m pretty disappointed with the human race that many are so blinded by their comforts and privileges that they can’t comprehend the effects systemic racism can have generations down the line. I wish better and less ignorance for America.
