What is Equal Pay Day?

AAUW has reported that women get paid 82 cents for every dollar paid to men. Equal Pay Day symbolizes how far into the year women must work to earn what men earned in the previous year.

Latinx Women and the Gender Pay Gap

According to the national average, Latinx women need to work until November 20th of 2019 to make what their male counterparts made in 2018.

That’s nearly 11 months’ worth of unpaid work.

1.1 million dollars over the course of a 40 year career!

So as Latinas what do we do? Amplify Latinx, The Mayor’s Office of Women’s Advancement, AAUW, and the Consulate of El Salvador united some of the most successful and powerful Latinas in Boston over some cafecitos to share their stories and mobilize us into advancement.
