As someone who started out in Environmental Science and is now getting a Master’s in Environmental Studies (policy focused) I 100% agree. I really want to get into science communication, helping scientists get their ideas across to the “general public”, particularly politicians.
Also anyone can be a scientist! There’s lots of amazing citizen science projects out there. Just because you didn’t get a degree from a university doesn’t mean you’re not an expert on your local plants or birds, for instance. All science really requires is an open mind and taking lots of notes if you ask me. (Yes there is more but I think that’s the core of it)
