Social Capital? Don’t you mean “I scratch your back while you scratch my back?”
Here is googles definition of Social Capital: Social capital refers to the collective value of all “social networks” [who people know] and the inclinations that arise from these networks to do things for each other [“norms of reciprocity”].
Interesting. In our day in age, social media is everywhere. We use twitter, facebook, instagram, tumblr, youtube etc. The list can go on and on. Social Capital has creeped its way in there and has now evolved into social networking. Its all about the people you meet and know and then coming to those people and asking them to spread the word on whatever you want them to spread. Once you do that for them it becomes a visa versa game. I feel like back then it was a little harder to communicate social capital because people had to make an effort to meet others face to face, go out on the streets, have a friend ask a friend, etc… But now living in the 21st century Social Capital was meant to thrive in this generation. It is so easy to contact someone through any social media outlet because a message can be sent and diplayed so whoever in the world can see. Organizations have turned to social media to spread their Social Capital. Its the way to go in our day of age and to be rightfully successful.
