Catch of the Day

I go fishing in the depths of me

Throw my line out deeper and deeper into my pool of memories

And I wait

Hoping to catch a poem

I catch feelings instead

Hook, line, sinker

They fight for their life every time

Sometimes I’ll chop them into pieces and make a poem

Serve it raw

Or use it as fresh bait

For other, bigger poems

Sometimes I’ll simply catch and release it back into the shallows

Knowing well that in time

We will meet again

It, a bigger fish

And I, a better fisherman
