What does it mean to be calm and peaceful?

The states of calm and peaceful are cultivated states. They exist out of habitual behavior intending to create them. This is why old people are usually better at being calm and peaceful than younger people.

True calm coincides with true confidence. Throughout life, we are given many opportunities to strengthen our confidence. How? By learning to pay attention to the unfolding of the Great Plan without trying to control it. The practice of allowing and observing lends wisdom to the watcher. Since wisdom and confidence hold hands, this practice is crucial for creating authentic calm. Next is the practice of patience. Patience is the ability to remain still, quiet and in a receptive state of learning. Patience also lends results in wisdom. Through experiencing and mastering the art of allowing and patience, one will begin to see the intelligent divinity that orchestrates all things. With this sight, one can make connection with this intelligent divinity and practice trusting it. And through the practice of allowing, patience and trust, one may surely come to know true confidence and true wisdom thus delivering himself/herself into the vast sea of peacefulness and calm.
