A couple days ago, I came across an article by Game Rant “explaining” characters who have made a return from GTA IV into V.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/gamerant.com/grand-theft-auto-5-gta4-characters/amp/

Why did I put the word explaining into quotations? Well, while a handful of GTA IV characters made it to V, this article mentions only Johnny Klebitz, Patrick “Packie” McReary, and Niko Bellic. The mention of Niko feels unnecessary, as he never makes a physical appearance in the game. Joseph Andress didn’t do a very good job writing this article so I’ll not only add two characters already mentioned, but include the rest he left out. That includes any that have showed up in GTA V and GTA Online. When Joseph wrote this article, he seemed to mention these three only because they are most favorited by fans.

Patrick “Packie” McReary

By far my most favorite character from GTA IV next to Niko. Packie is first introduced in the mission “Luck of the Irish” by Elizabeta Torres. Niko protects Packie from a drug deal gone wrong, killing the dealers while Packie and his partner escape.

He’s from Dukes, Liberty City, born in 1979 with his siblings Francis, Gerry, Derrick, and youngest sister Kate. He had an abusive Father who unfortunately molested both him and Gerry when they were kids. Packie started crime at a young age, and every now and then got in a tussle with his brothers. He’s also overprotective of his sister, wanting to beat up anyone who even looks her way; especially men.

Niko works with Packie several times, eventually developing a good friendship between the two. Packie and Niko eventually rob the bank of Liberty City in Algonquin with Michael Keane and Derrick McReary, but Michael gets killed. In 2008, he leaves Liberty City to travel to Los Santos to “seek fame and fortune”. Instead, Packie found “bordem and idiots”.

During a random encounter, Packie and an accomplice are found robbing a store. You can choose to help Packie and his friend, or kill him. If you choose to save Packie, he is available for all the heists. He also appears online, with lines reused due to the actor not having been active since 2017.

Agent U.L.P.

After Niko learns Michelle’s real name is Karen, she has him meet her boss. He is simply known as U.L.P., and works for the IAA. In exchange for giving Darko to Niko, he must do a few jobs for him before fulfilling his promise. U.L.P. brought Darko to Niko, giving him the option to kill or spare him. Some time before the events of GTA V, him and Karen go to work in the IAA building in the heart of Los Santos.

However, our first appearance of Agent U.L.P. is in “Monkey Business”, where Steve Haines, Michael Townley, and Dave Norton had to retrieve a nerve toxin. After Trevor picks up the container Steve shoots himself as a distraction, then U.L.P. appears with a few Merryweather Mercs. U.L.P. isn’t seen again until “The Wrap-Up”, and it’s here Michael kills him in the three way firefight between the IAA, Merryweather, and the FIB. However, it’s canon he survives due to his appearance in GTA Online.

Michelle/Karen Daniels

In GTA IV, we first meet her when Roman sends Niko to pick up both Mallorie Bardas and Michelle in front of a subway station in “Three’s A Crowd”. It’s here that Niko takes both ladies to Karen’s home in Broker. Michelle introduces Niko to dating in GTA IV, making her his girlfriend since his arrival in Liberty City. We then take her on various dates, and it’s during those times she seemed suspicious. She would ask questions to Niko dealing with possibly doing crime, even asking about Roman and his gambling problems. When going to drink, it’s obvious she pretends to around Niko due to her job.

At the end of the mission “Snow Storm”, we find out Michelle’s real name is Karen. She works for the IAA, and has been keeping tabs on Elizabeta Torres. Niko is mad at her for lying, and has to hand over the cocaine to her.

A few years later, she works for the IAA in Los Santos. We find her interrogating Mr. K in “Three’s Company”, but she escapes when Michael comes crashing through the window to save Mr. K. She also appears a few times in GTA Online as well.

Johnny Klebitz

Johnny is a minor character in GTA IV, and the main protagonist in Liberty City Stories: The Lost and Damned.

Johnny is part of the biker gang The Lost MC, and is first introduced during the mission “Blow Your Cover” by Elizabeta Torres. Johnny went with Niko and Playboy X to a drug deal, only for it to go wrong. Johnny shot his way through before getting on his bike, him managing to escape the cops. He works again with Niko in “Museum Piece”, but steals the money and escapes on his own causing Ray Boccino to hate him.

In The Lost and Damned, Johnny acts as President when the former leader was out of comission. When Billy Grey went to return to the Lost MC, Johnny went back to his position of Vice President. During the storyline betrayals were made, friends were killed, and bad luck happened. Johnny had a complicated relationship with Ashley, a woman who had cheated on Johnny and was addicted to drugs. Despite her problems Johnny still saved her from any trouble, including kidnapping Roman Bellic to clear her debt from Dimitri Rascalov.

In GTA V, Johnny and the Lost MC made their residence in Sandy Shores. Johnny confronts Trevor, as it was apparent he keeps having sex with Ashley. Due to just finding out about Michael being alive and Johnny annoying him, he kills Johnny by stomping his head in.

Terry Thorpe

In GTA IV he was a loyal friend to Johnny, moving with him and others to Sandy Shores. Johnny could call him to get weapons, or to simply hang out with him. In V, he was confronted by Trevor where he’s killed on the way to the Lost MC base by getting shot.

Clayton “Clay” Simons

Like Terry Clay is loyal to Johnny, and his job was to provide bikes to the Lost MC. If Johnny needed a bike, Clay will drop it off at Johnny’s location before hitching a ride with a Lost MC member. In GTA V, he’s confronted alongside Terry and killed in the same fashion as his friend by Trevor.

Ashley Butler

In GTA IV we learned she was Johnny’s girlfriend, however she had cheated on him with Lost MC leader Billy Grey and Ray Boccino. Ashley also became a drug addict, getting high often on crystal meth. When she visited Ray she was highly strung, demanding coffee as she was coming down from the high. Due to dealing with drugs she caused several problems with Johnny, including getting in trouble with Russian Dimitri Rascalov because of her debt. In order to clear it, Johnny and friend Malc had to kidnap Roman Bellic.

Ashley was responsible for telling Ray the Lost MC stole the money in “Museum Piece”, resulting in Ray torturing Jim Fitzgerald and getting him killed.

In V she moved with Johnny and a few of the Lost MC to Sandy Shores, where she has an affair with Trevor Philips. Either she can be run over by Trevor, or she dies later from a drug overdose in an orgy.

Anthony “Gay Tony” Prince

Tony has made a brief appearance in Niko’s storyline, getting Gracie Ancelotti back in the mission “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend”. He’s a main character in The Ballad of Gay Tony, as playable character Luis Lopez works for him. Tony Prince owns the two clubs Maisonette 9 and Hercules, with Luis working at Maisonette 9 as security. Despite Yusuf wanting to buy Tony’s clubs, Tony refuses to sell the two to him.

Tony doesn’t make any appearance in GTA V, but has shown up on GTA Online in the update After Hours. The player can purchase clubs in Los Santos, in which they must help Tony raise the popularity of the clubs.

Brucie Kibbutz

Brucie is Roman’s good friend, with Niko first meeting him his cousin’s tax service. When Niko meets Brucie, he has him either steal vehicles or kill someone. Brucie is an exercise nut, having muscles and exercise equipment at his home. He’s also hyper, due to taking Bull Shark Testosterone. He obviously loves cars, as he sends Niko to steal cars or lets him know of places he can street race.

Brucie has an older brother named Mori, one whom he is afraid of due to his brother bullying him.

In GTA V we don’t see Brucie, however we hear his voice on the radio promoting Bull Shark Testosterone. It isn’t until we see Brucie in GTA Online during the Diamond Casino Heist, where he’s Tao Cheng’s exercise trainer. It’s also implied he was giving Tao Cheng Bull Shark Testosterone.

Marlene “Marnie” Allen

When Marnie first met Niko, she was strung up on drugs and needed money to buy more. At first she wanted to have sex with Niko, him refusing due to being young and…on drugs. However Niko helped her out by driving her to her dealer, and giving her $50.

Niko saw Marnie again, this time her telling him she pissed someone off. With drugs comes paranoia, so she asks Niko to take her to the train station so she could go back home and stay with her family. Niko once again helps her out, and gives her $500. Soon after Marnie sends Niko an email, telling him she’s doing good and wants to become a psychologist. Niko wishes her well, and if she succeeds, to help him no longer be crazy.

In GTA V we see Marnie hasn’t become a psychologist, and instead joined the Epsilon Program. She’s no longer doing drugs, but instead having sex with gay men to convince them they’re straight. When Michael activates their missions, Marnie helps him on his way to be accepted by the cult.

Lazlow Jones

Lazlow has done various radio shows throughout the GTA games, including Vice City, San Andreas, and GTA IV. However, he was never seen in person before until GTA V. He wasn’t only a radio host on WCTR, but hosts Fame or Shame and was on the red carpet interviewing Solomon Richards, Anton, and Milton about the movie Meltdown.

He also appears in GTA Online DLC After Hours with Tony.
