Who else is Playing at Greater Nevada Field?
Greater Nevada Field is home to the Reno Aces. However, the Aces are not going to be the only players playing at the field this summer.
Greater Nevada Field is also going to be home to a new soccer team as well. It is also improving its restaurant facility and will be hosting multiple events.
“The purpose for all of this, is to create a closer community and a better Reno,” Eric Edelstein, the President of the Reno Aces, replied with when asked on why he thinks it is important for Greater Nevada Field to be apart of all of this.
Baseball
Baseball is the number one priority at Greater Nevada Field.
Therefore, Edelstein and his crew must make sure the baseball team itself is successful before they can proceed to improve anything else.
“Without a good baseball team nothing else matters,” Eric Edelstein said, “therefore, in order of importance, it goes baseball, soccer, events, the restaurants, and then anything else.”

Soccer
On September 16, 2015 the USL announced they would expand to Reno, Nevada. The decision was made that the new soccer team will play at Greater Nevada Field.
To help name the team, the organization asked Reno and their citizens for their help of naming the soccer team. The fans ultimately choose the name of the new team to be, Reno 1868 Football Club. The contest for the new name helped improve involvement from the community and helped unite the city.
Starting in 2017, Reno 1868 FC will begin play at their new home.
“Soccer is the fastest growing sport in America,” according to usyouthsocer.org. Which is the largest member of the United States Soccer Federation, the governing body for soccer in the United States. So along with a new professional soccer team, Greater Nevada Field will also be hosting youth soccer clinics as well, and even tryouts for local soccer leagues. A numerous amount of events will be happening at Great Nevada Field for the world of soccer.
Freight House District
The Freight House District offers a dining experience to where fans can sit down, eat, and watch the game as well.
They also offer specials like Sunday brunch, half off beer nights, and more recently they have added new types of food to the menu. Garlic pizza, sausage, and BBQ will now be in Duffy’s and Bugsy’s. Everything on the menu is also less than $10, and they buy raw materials. “This means the price of the food is cheap, while the quality of the food remains high,” Eric Edelstein said.
Freight House District is also coming out with a website soon. This website will contain their addresses, menu’s, and the schedule of the Reno Aces. The purpose for this will be so the community can be more connected and more knowledgeable of the events coming up.
“The Freight House District has not always been apart of the ballpark. Now it plays an intricate role for the fans and their experience. I am excited to see what the future holds for us, not only for the business’s but for the community of Reno as well,” Jay Hackstaff, Director of Food Operations, said.
Events
Greater Nevada Field is hosting multiple events this summer starting in April. It will service schools for prom night, concerts, and even Nitro Circus when they come to town in May.
There is going to be around $1.2 million in renovations happening to the stadium, according to Eric Edelstein. Part of these renovations will include a new surround sound speaker system and HD screens.
Eric Edelstein also said they are looking into having movie nights. Where families and friends can go out onto the outfield with blankets and such, and watch movies on the big screen.
Community
Greater Nevada Field not only involves sports fans, but other aspects of the community as well. Before the opening game of this year, two 34-foot-tall murals were painted on the wall of the home plate entrance.
Over 20 other local artist’s work will be shown at the ballpark as well. “All of this being an effort in creating a stronger community,” Eric Edelstein said.
Along with local artists being involved, the University of Nevada, Reno is also participating its students to join in on the Greater Nevada Field experience. On May 1st, 2016 the residents of Peavine Hall were invited to watch the Reno Aces home baseball game.
“We see the growth and the positive changes that Eric Edelstein and his staff are creating down at Greater Nevada Field, and we felt that it will be important for our residents to be apart of it. This will help get the residents out their dorms, take a little break from studying, and enjoy America’s pastime, baseball,” Colton Morano, Peavine Halls President, said when asked on why they decided to put together the event “Peavine goes to the Aces.”
“I would go on to say Greater Nevada Field is without a doubt in my mind the leader when it comes to the community and its progress over the past couple of years.” Colton Morano said.
