In honor of Veteran’s Day and military veterans in Southern California, Angels Baseball invited 150 veterans and guests to take the field for an evening of batting practice, dinner, and giveaways from Angels Strike Force and OC Health Care Agency at Angel Stadium. All branches of the military were represented for the event, which included members from Working Wardobes VetNet program, L1fe Organization, and Angels Baseball staff.

The Angels continued the Classroom Connections program this fall with a visit to Melinda Heights Elementary School for an all school assembly in front of nearly 1000 local students! Angels pitcher, Jimmy Herget, and AM830 Radio host, Roger Lodge, greeted the students and staff with lots of energy and provided an opportunity for them to ask questions to a Major Leaguer. The program, in partnership with Cox Communications, provides an opportunity to promote growth in the STEM education fields for schools in Orange County.

The Angels, in partnership with Chick-fil-A SoCal, visited the Anaheim Public Library-East Anaheim Branch on September 28, 2022 to share story time with dozens of young readers! The families in attendance were treated to Angels pitcher, Zack Weiss, reading children’s books and answering questions about what it’s like being a part of the Angels. Strike Force members and even the Chick-fil-A cow were also in attendance to bring gifts to each child, including an Angels hat, bookmarks, and a free chicken sandwich at Chick-fil-A.

School is in session! The Angels and Cox Communications visited San Juan Elementary School to celebrate the start of the school year and answer questions from the students and staff. Angels first baseman, Jared Walsh, spoke to the kids about what it’s like to be a big league ballplayer. AM830 Radio host, Roger Lodge also joined in to help add to the excitement for the students who all showed up in their Angels and San Juan Elementary red!

Sweep! The Angels swept the last homestand of the 2022 season with the 8–3 win over the Rangers. The team did not miss a chance in the first inning and scored six to grab the momentum– Mike Trout, Taylor Ward, and Livan Soto each had three hits to contribute in 14 total hits by the team for the win. Light that Baby Up!

It’s Fan Appreciation Day at the Big A! Before the game, the organization presented Angels Most Valuable Player and Nick Adenhart Pitcher of the Year to Shohei Ohtani. The Halos stayed hot winning six in a row! Starting pitcher Jose Suarez pitched the seven innings– taking a perfection until the seventh inning– giving up only two runs to record his eighth win of the season. Rookie Livan Soto went perfect 3-for-3 in the batters box with two doubles and scored a game-winning run in the seventh inning.

The Angels kept up their hot performance, defeating the Rangers in the first game of the last series at the Big A. Starting pitcher Reid Detmers hurled a solid six innings while striking out nine in his final start of the 2022 season. Also, the team held a retirement ceremony for veteran catcher Kurt Suzuki prior to the game– he will start one last time at home tomorrow and will start another game at the road game in Oakland, where he was drafted and debuted with. Congratulations on your retirement, Zuk!

The Halos sweep the series versus the Athletics, 4–2. Starting pitcher Shohei Ohtani flirted with no-hitter until the second out of the eighth inning on his last start at Big A in 2022 season– he also went 2-for-4 in the batters box and turned in his 96th RBI of the season. Three Halos Luis Rengifo, Taylor Ward, and Max Stassi went yard to help Ohtani’s win.

The Angels kept the light on the halo as they defeated the Athletics, 4–1. Starting pitcher Michael Lorenzen delivered five unearned innings, bouncing back from a difficult first inning. Mike Trout and Taylor Ward both hit a home run each to help the team’s win. Also, the organization’s top prospect Logan O’Hoppe made an MLB debut today and checked off his first hit of the career on his first at-bat.

The Angels defeat the Athletics in the first game of the last homestand of the season, 4–3. Jo Adell delivered a clutch, go-ahead RBI double in the eighth inning! Four players in the lineup had multi-hit game, including the rookie shortstop Livan Soto. Today’s game also marked 1400th game for Mike Trout!
