1999 was not the start of it, and it was not the end. It is just a example of Blacks getting killed because racism exists. In Mississippi, Emmett Till a 14 year old boy dragged out of his home and killed because he whistled at a white women. In this case he was not killed by the police but he was brutality killed by whites and his body was dumped in the river. Emmett was one of the few that symbolizes the the Civil Rights Movement.
The recent shooting that’s been happening in the new should sadden your heart. Or maybe it doesn’t? But history is repeating itself. Black males/women have been getting killed by the people that were supposed to be protecting us. The police. They have been abusing their power with the people.
A man was shot for supposedly selling CD’s and the officer tackled him and shot him multiple times in the chest. Alton Sterling was his name, he had children and a wife. This man was unarmed and he was killed for no reason. There is a video of the officers killing him and it was two officers, and one man. These officers were trained and it’s is two of you and one of him and you’re telling me you had to shot him and he was already on the ground? They said he was armed but they still have yet to find this weapon he “supposedly” had.
The next day this man was shot in his arm in his car because he supposedly had a broken tail light. He told the officer he was armed and it was on his hip and his wallet was in his back pocket and he was reaching for his wallet and the officer shot him in the arm. The officer let him bleed out into his car and didn’t call the ambulance or anything. His girlfriend was recording it the whole time. You did not have to shot this man and he had his child in the back seat. If the officer felt he was in danger he could have called backup and backed away from the car. But he did not have to shoot an innocent man. Those just are two examples of black men getting killed by officers on duty.
Sandra Bland is another example of being black innocently killed by the police. The police officer pulled her over and threw her on the ground and put so much force on her, her ribs and she could not breathe. She stated to the officer “get off of me I can’t breathe”. She was then arrested but she died before taking her mugshot. And they tried to cover it up and say she hung herself. But my question is why didn’t she get medical attention when she told you she couldn’t breathe? She died before her mugshot was taken, she died in the police custody.
The media is trying to outline this issue and they are doing peaceful protest and they are trying to end the violence. But some people are making it worse by killing police officers and they aren’t making it any better. There’s famous people speaking out this issue and trying to bring light to this issue. But this is history repeating itself. It’s never going to end because people are still upset about peoples skin color.
