Thank you for reading! The time it takes to recruit participants per project depends heavily on the method.

- Internal recruitment: This is the quickest method, probably around 5 minutes per participant since you are just asking your coworkers.

- External recruitment: This can take a while since you are relying on various ways of getting essentially random people to do usability testing with you. Craigslist can be quick, sometimes we would get responses within 10 minutes, but you get a mixed bag of participants. If you are out and about and recruiting, that can go quickly if people are willing to help. Asking friends and family depends on their availability.

- Recruitment services: This is a pretty quick method depending on what service you are using. With User Interviews, we generally wait about 2–3 days to get all the participants we want for the study.

- Customers: This can require a lot of different resources. Sometimes it can be quick if we have a direct link to a customer. If you’re starting cold on this method, it can take a while to generate a list of customers willing to participate. It took us about 3 months to create a list of customers that we could recruit from regularly.

Great question, hope this helps!
