Heaven Has Gained An Amazing Psalmist

Yesterday Heaven gained an angel and an amazing psalmist.

Minister Danny Nettey went on to be with the Lord.

There will be SUCH a beautiful sound in Heaven🎼🎼🎼

If you’ve been on my devotional list for a while, one of the unmistakable things you will have noticed is my LOVE and PASSION for praise & worship. I always most in general end a devotional with a song.

You see the ONLY thing that God cannot do is to worship Himself, so when you child of God open your mouth and begin to praise & worship Him, you position yourself to be an object of God’s affection and that’s why King David the psalmist despite his shortcomings still earned the coveted and most treasured title of being called “a man after God’s own heart.

If EVER you get a chance to interact with a Minister of Music, one of the questions you should ALWAYS ask them, desire to know about them and let them explain to you is this:

1) How can I love God more. Please TEACH me.
&
2) How do I position myself to worship God. PLEASE teach me.

I am saying all this to say that psalmists and ministers of music are VERY VERY dear to God’s heart. They are UNIQUE, EXTINCT and very RARE in the Body of Christ because they are the selfless ones who as it were hold our hands and usher us into God’s throne room to obtain graces and mercies of Him.

And that’s why Minister Danny Nettey’s passing on to glory was SUCH a BIG blow to the church world yesterday. To me he was the “Andrae Crouch” of Ghanaian gospel music. He has raised, mentored and influenced SO many of the contemporary Ghanaian musicians who are now on the scene. They all point to him as their ‘Father in ministry’.

I will ALWAYS be grateful to Minister Danny Nettey for making timeless gospel music that ushered us so effortlessly into God’s presence.

I will always hold dear to my heart the opportunity I had to be at one of “The Cola Cola presents Danny Nettey and Friend’s” worship events in Accra, Ghana a couple of Christmas’ ago. He sang his heart out to Jesus and the sweet presence of God that accompanied his ministration was unmistakable. There was no dry eye in that auditorium that day. We all left forever changed and impacted for Jesus for LIFE because he so generously shared the grace and anointing of God on his life with us all through his songs.

Yesterday when the news broke of his death, one of his Gospel music colleagues posted this message on Facebook. The message read:

“Struggled this morning to even speak… Uncle Danny Nettey you taught me a lot.. I can’t lie that I am not hurt. But I can’t share so much on here today because I failed to honor you much when you were alive. But I will be strong because unlike unbelievers we who believe in Jesus Christ have a Hope, so in that I rejoice. I also rejoice because you still live on through your music, through Joe mettle, Denzel and many more who are carrying the torch you lit years ago. You were taken advantage of and sometimes people would tell you to just do local songs lol but you didn’t listen and you did it how God wanted you to do it. So if today we take local twi songs and give it a western feel and our views on social media hit pass hundreds of thousands to even millions.. We say thank you for showing us the way. May your soul rest in peace. Now what will believers do on Christmas Day in Ghana? Hmm”

As I sat reading this message on Facebook, the Holy Spirit ministered these 3 life changing truths with me that I want to share with you this morning:

1) Let’s LEARN to HONOUR and APPRECIATE people when they are alive. If someone’s input in your life is a blessing to you, learn to use the magic words “THANK YOU”. Don’t wait till they are gone to then lavish them with accolades and sentiments.

2) NEVER take ADVANTAGE of others or take others for GRANTED. We MUST learn to honour the gift of God and the grace of God on a person’s life. Honour them in a timely manner.

3) Do YOU. In other words know who you are in Christ, know what God has called you to do and DO YOU. Live authentically and be true to what God has called you to do. Be led ONLY by the conviction that God gave you when He gave you the dream and be led ONLY by the Holy Spirit as you live out your purpose here on earth. NEVER be led or influenced by people. Your conviction from God is the reason why you do what you do. PROTECT that conviction. GUARD it fiercely. Never feel the need to subject your conviction to the court of human approval where you feel like you have to explain yourself to anybody. Who called you to do what you’re doing? Is it God or people?

People might criticise what you do and even misunderstand what you do and that’s fine. Do you know why that’s fine? Because God gave you the vision and NOT them. They were not there when God called you. If you are not wise, you will stop doing what God has called you to do and drop that call only for these SAME people who criticised you to then take up the VERY same idea God gave you, that they criticised you for, and turn it into profit for themselves and leave you hanging. DREAM THIEVES is what I call them. Be very WISE in this life.

Minister Danny Nettey, it is our loss for you be absent from the body but your gain to be present with the LORD. You have fought the good fight of faith. You have finished the race that God gave you. You have kept the faith right till the end and now God has ushered you into His eternal glory where there is laid up for you God’s crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge gives on that Day when we will all appear before Him.

Minister Danny Nettey, you will certainly be dearly missed.

Rest in perfect peace with our Lord Jesus.

Here is a link to listen to one of his timeless worship songs. He sings first in a local Ghanaian dialect and then sings the same translation in English. Please meditate on the words as he sings and you will be so blessed by it.
