While that may be true, it wasn’t the point in the article. The discussion centered around the effect the money had on the families affected by the additional money they received due to that casino. It could have been another business, perhaps; but it wasn’t. For a very long time, I’ve tried to make this argument, that what poor people lacked wasn’t character, intelligence, or morality, any more than any other demographic group; what they lacked was money, and upon that, they were — we were — being judged. Perhaps this author will be the one, or one of those, who will finally be able to get that message across to those who cannot seem to understand that.
