There won’t be a cutting edge cancer medicine *for free* without capitalism. That’s a load of BS. If you think you can actually motivate someone to invent this hard stuff just out of concern for humanity, you clearly haven’t lived the real world. Making generic copies of a drug invented in the good ol’s capitalistic US and giving it to the citizens for free? Gotcha. Socialism can do it I grant you.

Not saying the US doesn’t have structural problems — yes, they do, and the increasing wealth gap must be addressed by reallocating public resources. Rather than giving people substandard housing, it is better to give them an incentive to study and work.
Ultimately, people want an opportunity. As long as there is an opportunity and a possibility for going *rags to riches*, the society will thrive. It is debatable if it exists in the US, but it should if it doesn’t. Opportunity is everything and that’s what makes the US special and sets it apart.
