Are you bored yet?
Over the past few months I have been asked many questions about my decision to quit my job.
Past the standard reactions of “How wonderful!” and “So inspiring!!” comes the inevitable “So, what do you do *all* day?” And then one day I got — “Are you bored yet?”
“…boredom is an emotional or psychological state experienced when an individual is left without anything in particular to do, is not interested in his or her surroundings, or feels that a day or period is dull or tedious.” — wikipedia
Bored? It puzzled me to no end. Why on earth would I be bored?
Here is my answer.

I am anxious searching for a mission to pour my energy into.
I am occupied with volunteering; at the local food pantry, my city, and my kids’ school.
I am happy exploring my county, its wonderful parks, and libraries.
I am excited to have the opportunity to brush up on old skills and acquire new ones.
I am enjoying deepening friendships and making new connections.
I am taking the road less traveled with the hope that it makes a difference.
No, I am not bored.
I wonder if they are bored?
