I am neither black, nor white. I live in India, where the variety of races and classes and castes and religions is dizzying. It’s a patchwork quilt of a country where everyone feels like a minority. But as a straight, upper-caste male Hindu, I am as close to a straight white male as it gets here. So from that perspective, what do we do?
I know how it can induce anger. I know how it can make you want to scream. But, how else does one react to anger? How does one have a discussion with a person who is very legitimately furious? In another article, you talked about emotion vs intellect, and how these emotions are used as excuses to shut conversations down? But how does one continue a conversation charged with emotion?
