Lost In Parallel Lines
Loss of real touch and numb by fake interaction
The only good thing about instant messaging and hyperconnected space is that it addresses the tyranny of distance. Though there is so much contact there is too little connection. 🐿
I will tell you why, my best friend and I live in the same locality💒 but we would rather message than meet & rather state than listen. My friends promise to meet for a relaxed time together💅 but that doesn’t happen for weeks or months, or ever.
My only communication with them is through a set of emoticons, I know they are cute but they are devoid of emotive resonance leaving me clueless or simply irritated 🐾
I know human relationships are rich and they’re messy and they’re demanding. And we clean them up with technology 🕸
Texting, email, posting, all of these things let us present the self as we want to be. Trust me, that self is so fake 🤐
We get to edit, and that means we get to delete, and that means we get to retouch, the face, the voice, the flesh, the body -- not too little, not too much, just right.
It’s true that ‘all things must change to something new, to something strange,’ but this strangeness now is sadly estranging.🕵
To be honest, these new modes of communication are only splitting our attention and diminishing our capacity for empathy.
I long for meeting my friend over a cup of Tea or Coffee because a single glance could encompass an entire canvas of feelings. ❤
I believe we’re losing society to digital technology, the people who care about nobody else but themselves.👥
They share every little detail of their stupid lives online as if the world even gives a damn… digital technology is getting smarter and society is getting dumber. Society is… it’s slipping away. 🌐
