Getting the company’s management on board of an idea that you know will work is not always easy. You need to find the most suitable strategy to achieve your goal. Here are the tips I tried and were successful:

  1. Make a thorough research; never provide an idea without previously making some research. You should know your idea’s strengths and weaknesses and — even more important — how it will benefit to the achievement of the company’s goal;
  2. Clear explanation; your idea should easily be understood by everyone in the management team. Choose the most effective words that emphasize your selling pitch;
  3. Feasible view; ideas that can’t be put in practice are just a dream. Thus, you need to ensure that your idea is something your company canachieve;
  4. Cost effective; your idea should be in line with the profit that will be gained. Too pricey idea, with little gain, is unlikely be accepted;
  5. Be Confident; no one will engage to your views, if you don’t believe in yourself and what you expose. Being confident when explaining your idea is important, yet you should have counter-arguments in your sleeve, just in case.

Applying the above tips should, at least, bring you some visibility within your company, if the management may consider your idea less then acceptable. However, this should never stop you from re-considering your idea and exposing its improved version. Also, do not let yourself down from the first try. No idea is wrong, it may just not be what the company is looking for, at a particular moment. Nonetheless, you can always take the lessons from the previous experience and bring new concepts to the table.

I’ll have my fingers crossed for you!

And I would like to ask you:

What other tips have you used that proved to be a recipe for success?
