Post CodingDojo Coding bootcamp

For the post microsoft seattle entrepreneur, a right of passage is to wade into opensource and get a really good idea of what’s current in the market today.

At the bootcamp , I figured out the basics of MEAN , Ruby on Rails and PHP/Code Ignitor. That covered the webstack. I wanted to make sure that I did some work around native mobile apps. I figured out with much pain objective C in the last few months (was almost like going back to my c , C++ grad school coding days, “slow/painful/beautiful” coding) & was able to tap into my prior coding background in Java and get a good idea of Android.

& ooh!! “THE CLOUD” — looked at openstack , AWS , google cloud. AWS still looks like the winner, hopefully they start pricing down soon.

& ooh!! “Big Data” — worked with a buddy Data Scientist & installed a few node virtual cluster on virtual box/ubuntus and played around with Apache Hadoop 2.0/Hive. HQL , so much fun.

& more JavaScript — coded up some stuff with three JS / webgl. Some interesting stuff going on with the GPU engines in modern browsers. Something to keep an eye on, definitely.

& won my first startup weekend with a kicka$$ team on a neat B2B idea around importing/exporting goods.
