No matter the time of the year you visit, the roads will be covered by thick and dense white fog, making the area more eerie and scary. The dense forest bordering both sides of the roads doesn’t help lessen the bone-chilling sensations as you drive towards Dow Hill from Kurseong.

There is a small road between the Forest House of Kurseong and Dow Hill. The locals have been termed the Death Road owing to the various sightings of a headless boy apparition. People have seen such a paranormal entity walking along the road towards the forest region and suddenly disappearing between the trees. But this is not the only reason why Dow Hills is known to be one of the most haunted places in India.

Apart from this, locals and tourists have also explained sightings of red eyes from between the trees after sundown. This is why they usually refrain from travelling through Dow Hills after sunset. The area still retains the eeriness and the haunted feeling in broad daylight. The forest is said to be the scariest part because, according to the locals, any person trying to invade the forest boundary loses their mental stability and becomes insane. They believe the forest region is under the control of a spirit who doesn’t like others invading space.

People have also felt someone following them constantly, giving goosebumps when they enter the dense forest region of the Dow Hill Kurseong. So, if you are up for some adventure, this region is certainly the best one to go with.
