Anjan Mukherjee is a private investor. He was a Senior Managing Director in the private equity area of Blackstone, an investment management firm, where he worked from 2001 to 2015 and served on the Investment Committee. Mr. Mukherjee had responsibility for the Pharmaceuticals & Life Sciences, Chemicals, Aerospace & Defense and Transportation & Logistics sectors, managing an investment team in each area. He also was responsible for the Technology Services sector for a number of years, and has investment experience across a wide range of industries. Mr. Mukherjee was involved with many of Blackstone’s most successful investments during his tenure. Mr. Mukherjee held positions at Thomas H. Lee Company, a private equity firm, and Morgan Stanley, in mergers and acquisitions, prior to joining Blackstone.
After leaving Blackstone, Mr. Mukherjee served in the U. S. Department of the Treasury for over two years as Counselor to the Secretary of Treasury. He also served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Financial Institutions during this time. While at Treasury, he was involved with a wide range of matters pertaining to financial institutions policy and financial markets globally.
In 2008, he was a member of President Barack Obama’s Presidential Transition Team, focusing on matters of economics and international trade. Mr. Mukherjee has served on a large number of public and private corporate boards of directors, has been active with various nonprofit organizations, has spoken at a wide range of conferences and seminars, and has lectured at Harvard and Columbia business schools. He received his BA from Harvard University and MBA from Harvard Business School.
