Stress in Acute Situations (Acute Stress)

This is a form of stress that lasts short and is a reaction to a negative or dangerous situation. Most people experience this every day. For example when you are angry. Or when you are running late for an appointment. Even bad news on the television or a scary movie can cause acute stress. It comes and goes really fast.

Episodic Acute Stress

People who suffer from Episodic Acute Stress are chaotic. Normally acute stress lasts short, but for these people it has become a way of life. It is a chronic condition. A serious one, because it can lead to high blood pressure, migraine and cardiovascular diseases. You definitely need help if you are a chronic acute stress person.

Chronic Stress

Chronic stress is different than episodic acute stress. You don’t have it from acute situations, but you experience it all the time. Often people with this type of stress don’t realize it. Chronic stress can be caused by situations like the death of a loved one, a bad marriage, serious problems in life, a stressful job, chronic disease situations, etc.

There can also be physical causes. Like when you suffer from Cushing Disease. Patients produce too much stress hormones. There are other diseases too. So always see your doctor if you suffer from chronic stress.

Happy Stress (Eustress)

Eustress is the healthy and happy type of stress. It causes euphoria, you get extremely happy. Like when you jump out of a plane with a parachute, or when you are in a roller coaster. This type of stress makes you feel you are unstoppable. It is a productive type of stress. You feel like you can move a mountain.
