The differences between Windows 11 and Windows 10 are divided into six categories: UI design, app store, window layouts, device shift, added and removed functionality, and performance.

Since October 5, 2021, the official version of Windows 11 has been available.

Since the release of Windows 11, many people have been curious about the differences between the next-generation operating system (OS) and the current generation of Windows 10, which will help them decide whether or not to upgrade to Windows 11.

If you are one of such folks, you have come to the right place. In this essay, we will go through the major differences between Windows 10 and Windows 11.

→ Tablet Mode

In Windows 10, the typical tablet mode is removed, resulting in a full-screen Start Menu experience on your PC. Instead, Windows 11 acts like an iPad. It is easier to touch when you change your device to a tablet.
In particular, Microsoft adds additional space between taskbar icons in Windows 11. It includes new gestures for opening and dismissing windows, switching between desktops, and additional settings in the Windows Ink Workspace. In Windows 10 tablet mode, all of these are absent.
In addition, Windows 11 enhances the digital pen with haptics. When you use the pen to take notes or draw, you can feel and hear vibrations. You can input information not only by typing and clicking but also by touching, writing, and speaking (voice).

→ Visual Design

The biggest difference between the two generations of systems lies in the user interface (UI). Windows 11 has a quite different design from the current OS. Instead, the new graphic arrangement is more likely to be that of macOS.

The most noticeable design variation is in the Start Menu and Taskbar. The new start menu and taskbar icons are in the centre of the screen, as opposed to the traditional ones in the lower left. However, if you don’t like them in the middle, you can relocate them to the left.

The Start Menu in Windows 11 is a tad simpler than the Start Menu in Windows 10. Only a static list of programmes and commonly used things is provided. You can expand your apps, navigate down the list, and pin them as you see fit.

Virtual Desktops have taken the position of Windows Timeline, allowing you to switch between several desktops for personal, work, school, or gaming purposes. This is more difficult to set up and utilise with Windows 10.

Furthermore, similar to Apple’s FaceTime, Microsoft integrates Teams immediately into the Windows 11 Taskbar and makes it easier to access. Furthermore, because there are Teams, Windows 11 disables Skype. Microsoft Teams will be available on Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android. With Teams, you can easily link your friends and family.

There is nothing you can do about the taskbar’s location. The taskbar in Windows 11 can only remain at the bottom of the screen. There is no way to move it to the right or left, and no software can help.
Another prominent aspect of Windows 11’s new design is the rounded corner for its programme windows, which provides users with a softer aesthetic appearance.

→ The Microsoft Store

The app shops in Windows 11 and Windows 10 are mostly comparable. However, there will be a significant distinction in that version 11’s app store will include support for Android apps via the Amazon Appstore. That is not possible in Windows 10 or Windows 11 due to the new separate Windows Subsystem for Android.

The newly redesigned Windows 11 Microsoft Store, which will also be used in future Windows 10, makes it easier to find apps and movies. You can download all Windows apps, including Universal Windows Apps (UWP), Win32 apps, and Progressive Web Apps, via the app store in both versions of Windows (PWA).

→ Multitasking

The new Windows 11 operating system has Snap Group and Snap Layouts, which are collections of programmes that you are using at the same time that sit in the taskbar. You can bring them up or decrease them simultaneously for simpler task switching.

Both capabilities also make it easier to plug and unplug a monitor without losing track of where your open windows are. That is, you can resume where you left off.

→ Lost/Added Features

You can search anything

Aside from the differences described above, which are commonly addressed, there are a few others that you may not be aware of.
DirectX 12 Ultimate, Auto HDR, DirectStorage, and a new Xbox Game Pass (subscription available separately) are among the new features in Windows 11.
Access widgets directly from the taskbar and customise them to show anything other than the weather, news, calendar, and so on.

Missing features in Windows 11 include the inability to sync desktop wallpaper with new themes.
Removes Internet Explorer, the Math Input Panel, OneNote with Windows 10, 3D Viewer, Paint 3D, and other applications
They are available via the Microsoft Store.

→ Performance

Aside from new features and design adjustments, Microsoft touts Windows 11’s better performance over Windows 10. It promises speedier logins with Windows Hello, faster waking up from sleep, and faster online surfing.

Microsoft also promises that Windows updates for version 11 will be smaller and will run in the background. Furthermore, Windows 11 is more efficient, resulting in longer battery life on mobile devices such as laptops and tablets.

Finally, if you decide to upgrade to Windows 11, you should make a backup of crucial files beforehand in case of an accident or data loss.
