I was lucky not to waste years to object-oriented programming. Just two years into my professional career, just when I thought I would settle down on Python, I was hired to learn and program in Erlang/Elixir/Elm. BOOM! It was tough to throw away all the hard work I put into learning Object-Oriented programming, but I finally did it. :-)
