“Just keep in mind: the more we value things outside our control, the less control we have.” — Epictetus

This quote is by Epictetus.

Epictetus was a Greek Stoic philosopher.

The big idea here is to live a life of freedom we need to stop worrying about the things that are not in our circle of control or influence.
if you can control something, there is nothing to worry about. If you cannot control something there is still no reason to worry because that thing will / will not happen and you can do nothing about it.

Here’s how this applies to us and self-improvement:

  • If you keep thinking about the things you cannot control, you will not be able to focus on the things that you can control.

So, let’s put this into action:

  • Some things are in your control, and some things are not. Accept it.
  • Be a realist and tackle problems objectively.
  • Do the best you can in a given situation.

By the way…

If you’re genuinely interested in how to take this to the next level, I’d like to invite you to leave a comment below and share what you think about this quote.
