You are not what you think you are. You are not what others think you are. You are what you think others think you are.

It is never too late to Blog!

House of Cards is back. I love the series and more so the quotes by Francis Underwood. He once said, “After all, we are nothing more or less than what we choose to reveal”. Over the last couple of years, after I came out from school and college life to the corporate environment, hence becoming a bit more observant and introspecting, I have found this to be one of the most truthful statements.

To the people around us and the people we meet, we are nothing more or less than what we reveal to them. We tend to reveal what we think is appropriate to the people we meet during each occasion; in order to impress, stand out, be heard, be liked, be accepted, gain new business, gain authority, manipulate and so on. And most of the time we might do that unconsciously, without even knowing. No one will ever know you more than you. Not your colleagues, not even your closest friends or your loved ones. You will always only reveal to them what you think you need to, and you will always be to them nothing more or less than what you reveal. Who are we really? Are we a combination of what we have revealed to every group of people we know, or might that even be all just an ‘act’ to be accepted. Are we something completely different from the inside, scared to reveal our true nature and self, thinking people might not accept it, are we just a series of ‘acts’ combined? We might just be the little things that we cannot control, like the way we smile, or our small habits, or how we listen to others, or how we react to different situations. Those small things are our true self, wanting to step out and be revealed. To get to really know someone takes time. It is not only what one reveals to you, but how he behaves and acts when he is not with you that matters. Still, there will always be elements of one’s personality that might surprise you when you find it out. All the world’s a stage, And all the men and women merely players!

My act at GreedyGame went great. Our valuation, revenue and most importantly profits are solid. We have got some of the best people in the industry as mentors, investors. The founders and team don’t flaunt these details but they are amongst the coolest people I know! I am now going to perform my next act at ISB. After ‘n’ number of admits, rejects and defers finally decided to get done with my post-grad. Let’s see how this one plays :)
