I completely agree with you and your points. How life would be so much easier/less stressful.

Here, in Poland, education is (theoretically) free but every new generation have gigantic pressure applied to them to go to college. It’s so bad that it’s not important which field you choose, you just HAVE to go to college because it’s the most important thing, and get a degree that currently means very little as quality of education drops dramatically (nothing unexcepted as almost everyone goes there). The worst thing is that most of classes in most of field are almost pure theory. Outdated pure theory. I studied in the field which baseline is understanding of needs and taking care of farm animals. We had practical classes on farms with said animals less than 10 times. In almost 6 years. It’s just insane.
I basically learned more alone in 6 months in the field I choose myself and have better work perspectives (and better paid too) that after almost 6 years of college that I went because I had to.
But there was one good thing: living these couple of years in another city gave me opportunity to learn how to be an adult.
But no, I wouldn’t go to college for a second time.
