Our client expected us to present the following deliverables by the end of the project.

Overview

My team of 4 UX Designers have received a brief from internal stakeholders to identify an opportunity within a problem space and select an appropriate platform for which to design a solution. We didn’t have any specific industry to choose, but through group facilitation meeting we came up with a few specific areas we wanted to focus on: social life and local community.

Finding a problem space was a challenge for my team in many respects. First, some of us approached the project as their own passion and pitched our own interests or topics that they are familiar with. It proved to be a disaster, since all of the passionate opportunity statements we submitted to out stakeholders were rejected. They tackled the problems spaces of money management, fashion and pet adoption. That made my team reconsider the personal approach to the teamwork. It became clear that the project is not going to be about somebody’s passions, it’s TEAMWORK only!!! Ultimately we proposed 2 more opportunity statements and one has been approved. …

Overview

My team of 3 UX designers received a client brief that stated that Expedia Group wants resolve any usability issues occurring on their responsive website for their primary persona. Moreover, the client was interested in incorporating a feature to their website in order to meet the expectations of more socially conscientious consumers. We collaboratively worked on redesigning Expedia’s responsive website and adding a checkbox “ I want to see eco-friendly options”on the Search Results page as well as assigning an eco-friendly icon to hotels pursuing best environmental practices.

Target Audience

To uncover the demographics of potential users we set up a screener survey to be able to address all age groups and genders while doing user interviews. Setting up a survey also helped us create a database of contacts for usability tests. Our main reason behind screening users was to better understand what travel booking websites/apps people use and see how socially engaged travelers are. …

Google Calendar mobile app

Overview

The immersive student experience can require long working hours on campus and sometimes on weekends. Oftentimes, this can result in issues with time management, poor school/life balance and missed deadlines. What evolved from my design process was the ‘To-do List’ feature that can be added to Google Calendar app on iOS and Android phones.

Target Audience

Speaking of potential users who will be using this new feature added to Google Calendar, the target audience are General Assembly (later GA) students. Each and every GA student goes through the same experience, be it a SEI, UXDI or DSI student. The immersive programs offered by GA are somewhat of an unconventional and unorthodox approach to academic education. Fast study pace, information overload, and tough deadlines affect social life dramatically and trigger anxiety. Eventually, GA students become highly vulnerable in terms of their time-management skills. Therefore, they need assistance when it comes to dealing with their academic and personal lives. GA students religiously use Google Calendar to keep track of their classes, 1:1 meetings and any updates on their schedule. To help GA students fight procrastination and all other sorts of time-management related issues, I come up with an idea based on evidence from user research that would allow students to become more organized and prioritize better. …
