In this lecture Ben Silbermann, the founder of Pinterest was talking about the things that are the most important in creating a culture in the company.

1)The first one was hiring right people by considering not only their knowledge and experience but also their personal characteristics and values.

2) Knowing what they do every day and why.

3)What they chose to communicate

4)What they choose to celebrate and what they choose to punish.

It is more responsible for the company to choose the first 10 employees right, so they can get the culture of the company right. So how to choose the right people as a team member if you are inexperienced in the certain business. The first advise he gave was working with the first 10 people as much as possible before hiring them. You also have to understand whether the certain position is right for that person or not. The next step is understanding what the person looked like in the first day of interview and what he/she achieved during one month.

You have to focus on two very important things:

  1. getting your employees up and running them,
  2. giving people feedback quickly.

In other words, it is vitally important for the startup to hire productive workers, who can understand what should be done and work immediately.

The employees should be passionate about your product and truly believe in it, so you can create a great team and a great culture for your company.
