Day 49 — Camera shy
Saturday, October 25, 2014
Around 11:00am, we went to the same uncle’s house as the night before, for the brother-sister festival ceremony. There was a similar symbol on the ground as the Tihar ceremony, made for all the males in the family. The three ladies (Helena, Pratista, and my host aunt) gave a tikka and large bowl full of fruits, sel, etc, to their respective male brother-figure, like a gift. A few people gave me their cameras to take photos throughout the ceremony, and I ended up taking photos with each of them like a maniac. The cutest little boy was sitting beside his older cousin during the ceremony and as hard as I tried to get him to look at my camera, he shyed away. It only made him more adorable. After the ceremony, we had a large meal and went back home. During tea time with my host mother, Pratista and Noel came into the kitchen and urged me to join them for a movie at the school hall where we sometimes went to use the TV. I joined them after tea.
