Today I did some finishing touches to my designs and then shared them on an instagram account I created. This is a mockup of the social media content that would be shared for the market. It would contain updates of who is selling at the market and new recipe ideas for the seasonal foods.
Today I went through my photos and edited them and started to develop my graphic style on them. I was starting to build content I could use for a social media account which would be how I would keep customers updated on who was at the market each day/week.
Trolley Photography
Today I went round and photographed potential stall sellers with their products in a trolley. I went to lots of different places with a supermarket trolley in my car. (yes I felt very stupid!) I photographed places like…the local fish mongers in Penryn, Stones local bakery & cafe, Unrapped bulk refill store, and Argal farm shop. Here are some of the raw pictures. Luckily everyone was very nice to me and willing to help and some of them loved the idea and were very passionate about Sustainability themselves too.
Market rules and mockup
I decided to help keep this market strictly sustainable I realised I needed to create some sort of rules. I created a set of guideline that everyone selling at the market had to follow…
Market Rules
no plastic & minimal packaging.
no single use items.
only local products unless shipped sustainably.
only organic products sold.
clearly labelled where each item is from.
clearly show what to do with products.
I also did a mockup of what the trolley market might look like. I photographed the shelter at asda and sketched on the trolleys. The trolleys would be the stands and each person selling at the market can rent one/two trolleys and sell their stuff in them. People then see this on their way into the shop.

Final logo and colours
I finalised my word mark. I used a hand drawn font that I created. I made the odd letter in each word smaller to add a sense of playfulness to it. I also liked the simplicity and legibility of it.

I also made a logo although I was unsure I needed one. I decided to make a simple one using my same hand drawn font as the word mark but fitting it into the shape of a supermarket trolley. I have used this as a small stamp to put on things like products and images. This helps the brand stay recognisable.
Final Name
I started by defining some of the words I was using. I also googled some more words to do with sustainability and global warming to help. I have trialled many different names and tried them with a logo idea. I have finally decided on one:
The Trolley Market
I like the simplicity of it and am thinking of not using a logo/icon and instead just having it as a word mark. I also like how it is self explanatory. Although it doesn’t show the market is sustainable that might be a good thing. Many people get scared by sustainability and global warming so tend to avoid it. I want to avoid branding it as a farmers market as there is a stigma around then that theya re expensive and unreliable.
