It isn’t known. I had MANY reasons for not seeing this film and my ultimate one wasn’t even related to the rape allegations; it centered around the inaccuracy of the film and the “need” to add a fictionalized rape of a black women as if the brutalization of and injustices against black women are not enough and they must be sexually abused to be worthy of note in a “historical” portrayal of a black mans rise against injustices. So much about this film is problematic and the least of them is my disdain for Nate’s actions and responses to the death of a woman who died from suicide.
