Thank you for that response. This makes me so mad. Black women have historically lifted black men up and stood against the injustices thrown at black men yet black men rarely stand for, protect, fight against the oppression and injustices thrown at black women. We have hashtag after hashtag screaming for justice and laminating the death of yet another unarmed black man yet we see so few hashtags baring the names of black women who have been brutalized by the police. And the moment the black community is faced with a hashtag in remembrance of and outrage against the brutalization of a black women, black men are the first to make excuses for why the black woman’s brutalization was excusable. Why must the black woman always lay at the feet of black men as well as the rest of society?
And because I know I’ll be villanized no matter what for the above said, I do know that it’s not all black men.
