This is a really interesting read, especially the implications of the cultural background of the countries i.e. France starting with lunch, rather than breakfast. I wonder if that meant they tended to start the day later, or perhaps it could be an indication of the economy at the time. It may be they could not afford to have three meals a day. It is food for thought in any case.
