Moving to Maastricht soon?
First of all — WELCOME to the new members of Sharing Success :) You have been accepted to a Master program of SBE and will soon be moving to the beautiful city of Maastricht.
Surely, Maastricht isn’t the easiest city when looking for a room, studio or an apartment. Therefore, I would advise you not to wait too long for your room search. The Vrijthof and the Market are famous places to live in the city center because it’s very central and close to many faculties, also SBE. City parts such as Wyck and the Jekerkwartier but also areas close to Tongerseplein or Emmaplein are popular living areas for students.
Many students offer their room, studio or apartment in diverse Facebook groups. While some look for a new tenant, others look for someone to sub-rent, a housemate or try to find people to rent out an apartment or even a house. You can ind something for every budget as long as you look in time :) Small rooms start at approximately 350€ up to 600€ for a big room in the center. Check out Rooms/ Kamer/ Zimmer in Maastricht, Flat Hunting Maastricht and Maastricht Student Rooms — Search/Offer. When renting out a place on your own you are sometimes able to get rent subsidy (huurtoeslag) from the government, which you do not need to pay back. In order to receive the subsidy you need to fill certain criteria. Check out the website of the municipality and in case you need help with the procedure Jules Maastricht is the right adress to contact.
Jules Maastricht offer a lot of services for students. Next to housing, the can help you with bikes, furniture, insurance, tax matters, language courses, student jobs, etc. Check out their housing database and maybe join some of their group viewings. With Jules there are no agency or contract fee — very student friendly. Just drop by, everyone is very kind and happy to help!
