The Novak Djokovic saga played out on our TV screens over the last week has shed light on the need to get your visa documents in order before visiting Australia. This applies whether you are emigrating or even just visiting!

The more information that you can give at the time, the better the result.

Initially in Novak’s case the information that was provided to show that there were grounds for a medical waiver were judged by the Australian Immigration Department not to besufficient. In fact, you need to show the following:

• That you are fully vaccinated
• That you have recently had Covid 19
• You have another medical reason for not being Vaccinated

At the moment, the exact nature of the evidence that has been given to the Immigration department has not been released so we cannot say what this was. The court though,has now overturned the decision of the Immigration Department. The Judge has commented with words to the effect “What more could he have supplied”?

So, as you can see even if you are well known and at the peak of your profession, it is key that your supporting documents for an application are in order.
