they always happen so far away. peering over the shoulders of giants and hunched buildings, surrounded by a breathing crowd listening, watching and listening to shattered mirages and feeling very alone. in such a grand moment, what thoughts climb into our mouths, what emotions spill into the night? moments like these can make a man feel weak, nostalgia caressing the bones and the heart and the tracing memories. watching the bursts careening through the smoky sky, so big and so loud, and so far away. thinking of far away lights from other years, the people who came and went and are coming, the grand moments and the small. never feeling more alike the solitary moon above than tonight.
