Are you aware that the State of Wisconsin is imposing a $150 annual tax on hybrid cars and a $200 annual tax on electric cars? The legislature included only $75 and $100 taxes in their version of the budget but Governor Scott Walker, using his veto privilege, doubled the amount. Reason: hybrid and electric car drivers don’t buy their fair share of gasoline, therefore they don’t pay enough gas tax which is used to fix the state’s roads. All this without any quantification of how much is “enough” gasoline.
