Anne, I am speculating, so feel free to take me to task if I am way off base.

Carl,

First, did you read the piece I wrote on why I’m voting for Hillary? It delves into more of the reasons I’m voting for her which can be summed up thusly:
1. She’s a politician, not a criminal.

2. She’s experienced.

3. She has positions I like.

4. I’m actually a free thinking rather than party Republican. I would be a free thinking Democrat but they don’t want me either so I go with the party in power in this late voting, red state.

I am self aware enough to own bias so I can’t in good conscience say that gender is totally irrelevant in my decision. I ran for (and lost) a local office. People told me straight out that they were voting for me because I was a woman. I have to assume the corollary is true; that people did NOT vote for me because I was a woman.

As an aside, I don’t think my gender was ultimately a factor.

Anyway, I know what gender favoritism looks like and to the degree that we can be honest about such things I can say it’s not a driving factor.

Rather, I decided to vote for Hillary because of her experience. In the Senate, she was known for working across the aisle. As a diplomat, she understands give and take.

I’m curious, why do you think she will be a hardliner?
