They Not Like Us

Trying to strike a chord and it’s probably A Minor” – Kendrick Lamar.

Opinions and a**holes. Everyone has one. Here’s mine.

There’s nothing like a Hip-Hop battle, but wow. Kendrick didn’t even wait for Drake to reply to “Meet the Grahams” to drop his nuclear. “Not Like Us”💥. I was raised on hip-hop battles and am the first to admit that I’m one the world’s biggest Kendrick fans, a real day 1er, but I also like Drake, his contribution to music and his input to the global domination & strength of hip-hop.

But I now see dead people…and I can’t unsee it. The fact is that once horrid toxic things are publicly exposed, it’s a knockout blow that’s hard to recover from.

Especially when it’s exposed to a killer DJ Mustard beat, because the memes and TikTok trends generated from “Not Like Us” in just a few hours by the fans in 2024 are undefeated. Kendrick is a master wordsmith and soldier on a mission who has pulled a trigger that has motivated those in favour of protection, truth and accountability everywhere in a Kat Williams smoke-and-fire way.🔥

Hip-hop battles and competition are epic parts of the culture as they show the power of words, beats and quick-fire rhythmic intelligence. But how can Drake ever attempt to “win” this when Kendrick is such a skilled writer/battle rapper and Drake’s own inner team is apparently seeding Kendrick with all this negative info? It’s Biblical y’all. And IMO, Drake’s loss leader. This has been great for Hip-Hop and a major Hip-Hop win, but there is room for both Drake & Kendrick in the world. The ying and the yang. We need both of them here and not a messy post-battle career roadkill. We need to keep this beef to words, only words. We need survival. Career, body and spirit.

All is fair in love and war, but my advice is to bow out and take the L Drake, take the L for the love of hip-hop. Drake is out of his depth and this battle is now in the very dangerous toxic murky waters of historic moralities, mass public judgement, reputation assassination and inner self battles/reflection. Ego needs to be swallowed with private mediation and somebody neutral needs to publicly step up and stop this fight (perhaps J Cole or the spirit of Tupac maybe?) so both Kendrick and Drake (and his writers) can get some peace, rest and regroup next recovery steps.

J Cole stepped away because he said this toxix battle didnt sit right in his spirit and wasnt’t good for his soul. I agree.

“Tactical warfare has been a focal point of this beef and Kendrick kept that going with the cover art of his latest diss record. The picture shows Drake’s Toronto mansion with several sex offender app markers placed on top of the home, a nod to Kendrick claiming the 6 God and members of his crew have committed sex crimes.”
