There is magic in watching your first circuit illuminate a miniscule Light Emitting Diode atop the breadboard of a little BoEbot. After learning about what a robot exactly is, we had the incredible opportunity to work for the entirity of last week — week six of the Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program hosted at AT&T El Segundo headquarters — with leads, resistors, LEDs, piezos, servos, and whisker sensors. Placed in groups of four, we tested circuits to create unique robots. Then, we used the Arduino coding platform to write programs for robot dance parties, music and light shows, and recoverable, touch-sensitive “kitty” robots.
