Nice post Stefanie — I relate a lot to your experience having done my share of menial and low-paid jobs (including cocktail waitressing!) on my own road from English major to professional writer. I think there’s also a big difference in perspective between those of us millennials who graduated straight into a recession and those who didn’t. In those years, I felt incredibly lucky to be employed full time when many of my peers weren’t. Going through that in your formative years, I think, makes us all less tolerant of the whining.
