I think that pornography, since it is usually visual, is more appealing to men because they tend to be more visual.
Erotica, on the other hand, tends to be words, written down — to convey fantasies or situations or scenes — something that tends to be more appealing to women, because much good sex for women starts in their heads. While most men, and yes, I know I’m painting with a broad brush and yes there are certainly exceptions, tend to need the visual excitement for sex to be good.
Which seems to be why men looking at women’s breasts and butts is something men enjoy doing — but women do not seem to get aroused by the “dick pick” — men seem to confuse these two quite contradictory approaches to sex. And I guess women do also.
