Went to Amazon and a look at Reza Aslan — quite a collection to read from — I chose first the one about God: a human history.

I must say without a shred of regret or fear, that reading this much so far, has radically changed all my thinking regarding what I was “taught”, how I used to think — and how, for instance, the Catholic Church just came up with the concept of “original sin”, and Catholics raced their infants in to be baptized, just in case.

I get closest to God in nature. Which makes it even more interesting to note that we’ve always called nature “Mother Nature”, not “Father Nature”. And something I brought up to my husband not many days ago, is why all the “sightings” of Mary, the things “she proclaims” — and yet no “sightings” of any male figures. No sightings of Jesus, no sightings of Moses, none of Isaiah ….none. It puts a pause in all my thinking.

I wouldn’t mind going back to school to take up theology, but I fear what I may be taught. I kind of like learning this stuff by reading others recommendations, and just employing by own ability to think for myself. And not be told “what to believe” or “what to think”.

Any other suggestions on reading would be appreciated! I’m a receptive soul! (And btw, also 65!).
