The Price of British Citizenship
Christine Ro

I’ve been working on obtaining Italian Citizenship by descent for the past three years. I haven’t tallied it all up, but I’ll bet by the end of this I’ll have spent close to $4000 on obtaining documents, apostilles, corrections, translations, a court order to fix discrepancies, and trips to the Italian Consulate in Chicago. Most people I’ve talked to think I’m crazy for thinking this is worth my time and money, but I think that amount is pretty cheap for a second citizenship. My perspective is, people spend $30k on a car and think it’s no big deal, but this is an asset I can pass down to any future generations. Worth it!
