Why do I seem to get caught up in the wrong things?

It’s like I’m never satisfied with anything I have…

And you would tell me, “Well, that’s just our nature as humans…” Yes, sadly it is. But why can’t we start changing that?
Why can’t we start enjoying the little things again?
Whatever happened to finding the purest joy from the littlest and simplest things?
I picture two kids, happily playing with chalk, not a care in the world. Only this, that they are okay in the moment that they are in, and satisfied with all that they have. Happy with nothing more than the smallest thing: chalk & a sidewalk.

The bible talks about having faith like a child.
It says in Matthew 18:

At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”

He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said:

“Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.”

Did you catch that? Unless we become like children, we will never grasp it.
If you think about it, children live a pretty simple, yet satisfied life.
Wake up, eat, play, eat, sleep.
Simple, yet content.

That is the simpleness that I would like to become.
Not so concerned about what others think of me.
Not so caught up in all the troubles that are around me.
Happy with where I am, but still searching for more.
Not caring about if that person liked my Instagram post.
Or simply not caring at all about all the wrong things we get caught up in.

Now I’m not saying, do everything a child does. No. Because there is purpose in your right now, and you are full of wisdom & have grown so much.
No, all I mean is this:

I think that as the years have passed and our troubles have gotten more & more heavy, we have started to lose the art of simply falling in love with living the life that God has given us.
We have forgotten what it is like to actually like or enjoy LIVING.

So here I present a challenge-
Stop living for just your future, stop living like you have all this time.
Because, in reality nobody really knows how much time we have.
Start living for the simplest & purest joys of this hard but wonderful life.

Because once you do, I promise things will start changing- for good.
